In The Mood For Blogging

This post has nothing to do with what I planned on writing (thoughts from my summer 'vacation', toronto trip, or whatsoever). I just had a sudden urge to blog, and for once, it's not past midnight!

I woke-up this morning excitedly because I was going to have lunch with one of my bff who I haven't seen for some time. It feels so good to meet up with friends and just chit-chat.

These past 3-4 weeks, I had my period of messed up sleeping schedule. Thanks to the long week-end, it's slowly getting better. I already felt the change today.

Ever since the beginning of September, I've been thinking a lot......a bit too much that I can't focus at school and can't sleep. I've been thinking about my life, my past, my future, my career, my family, my values, my interests&hobbies, my friends, my health, my bank account, my classes, my grades, etc etc etc. Well, that's a lot. Got myself into a short period of "negative" mode due to the lack of sleep.

I did discover or find answers to all my worries and thoughts, but in the end, that much over-thinking did not do me any good.

"We are very good at preparing to live, but not very good at living. We know how to sacrifice ten years for a diploma, and we are willing to work very hard to get a job, a car, a house, and so on. But we have difficulty remembering that we are alive in the present moment, the only moment there is for us to be alive." - Thich Nhat Hanh

By wasting my time worrying about things that are in the past, in the future, or things that I cannot change, I've wasted that period of my life that could be used to do something much more significant or memorable. However, that's how life is. That's how things are sometimes. I needed that period of depression so I can get back up stronger again with a new mindset.

"If you want to succeed in your life, remember this phrase: that past does not equal the future. Because you failed yesterday; or all day today; or a moment ago; or for the last six months; the last sixteen years; or the last fifty years of life, doesn't mean anything... all that matters is: What are you going to do, right now?" - Anthony Robbins

Back in high school, I was a weak and timid little girl. I wasn't as mentally strong as I am now of course. I lacked self-confidence and I wasn't good at school. All the other girls that I was surrounded by were hard-working girls who got good grades and they were all successful at school. Their parents were and still are proud of them. They were able to accomplish things that I couldn't. My parents would  always compare me with the other smart kids and that didn't help at all; it just made me feel like I will never be as good as they are (and they are still comparing me and my siblings to other children).

While everyone enters University at age 18/19, I got in at 21 because I got lazy during my first year of college and went on probation. Then I just decided to take one semester off because I was fed up with school (I never liked school). While everyone my age graduated from University already, I'm only in my second and I will probably not graduate in my third. Therefore, I will most likely be graduating at age 24. By that time, some people would have been working for two years already. I have friends who are in a stable relationship with their bf/gf, so maybe in a few years, they will be getting married. And here I am; still finishing University and still single. I cared and worried about all these,  but not anymore.

Age is just a number and as long as I'm still young at heart, as long as I enjoy every moment of my life, as long as I don't have any regret, it doesn't matter how old I am and where I am in life. I seriously cannot wait 'till I'm done with school because I have so many things I want to try, to experience, and places to explore. (When I was young, my plan was to get married and have children by 28. Then, two years ago, my plan was to get married and have children by 30. Now? 40. My sister and I discussed about each decade in our life. During your twenties, it's where you go out there and explore the world; during your early to mid-thirties, it's where you start to find a job and build your career; during your early-fourties, it's where you settle down and have children. )

"What I really mean to say is that I hope you aren't held back because of a number. And that you don't rush into things because it feels like time is slipping by. I hope you do what's right for you. Hold on. Slow down. And breathe in. Your age is your age. But more importantly, your life is your life. Don't change your journey so that it matches someone else's. We need to walk different paths so the whole world can be explored. Revel in the differences. And enjoy where you are." - Jessica @ http://todaywasmeaningful.wordpress.com

And now, as I have a new mindset, I want to make some new resolutions! I know 2014 is in 2 months but I'm really excited for a change!

I used to share music that I liked on my xanga before, so I should do it here also!

ps: Thanks to tumblr for all the quotes. They were there right when I needed them.
