Just some random blabla on life

Bell employee = BE  Grandma = G-ma

So, my grandmother was on the phone and then Bell called, therefore she switched the line. Due to the fact that she doesn't understand English nor French, she spoke to the BE in Chinese and passed the phone to me. Here goes the conversation: 

Me: Oui allo?
BE: Oui bonsoir, pourrais-je parler a Mme S. ? (it was actually my father's name but the BE probably thought that she was S.)
Me: Oui, vous etes?
BE: J'appelle de Bell et elle n'est plus avec nous en ce moment, alors on voudrais la proposer de nos promotions etc.
Me: Mmmh non merci, je ne pense pas qu'elle serait interesser.
BE: D'aaaaaaaaaaccord ...........et elle parle le ching chong?
Me: Ben elle parle Chinois.
BE: pardon?
Me: Elle parle le Chinois.
BE: Ah konichiwaaaaaaaaa
Me: .........
-silence-
Me: Merci bonsoir.
-hung up-



I find the man extremely rude and perhaps I'm a little bit sensitive to this, but I'm pretty sure he was being really unprofessional and racist. 

This might not be a big issue, but for me, it is. Why? Because I am highly, overly protective of my family.

People can insult me, make fun of me, laugh at me, hit me, hurt me, I wouldn't even care. But if anyone try to hurt my family, that is unforgivable. I won't be the nice Shuyun.

For sure, being immigrants, we did face a few racism here and there. Especially if my family don't speak the language or being a 'typical Chinese'.  I get so frustrated every time but I can't fight back. I don't know how and I don't have the guts. Being the eldest, it is my responsibility to protect and help my family, but I blame myself for not being smart enough to do so. I've always hoped to have a big brother to protect me, and take over the responsibility of protecting the family. Because in the end, no matter how strong a girl is, she's still a girl.

That's why I start to depend a lot on my friends. They are my second family, and same thing, if anyone try to hurt them, I won't be nice.

Yes, I am being overly sensitive on racism and any inequalities. What makes one being more different than the other? What makes a nationality being more superior to another? Aren't we all human beings? Religiously speaking, we are all brothers and sisters from God.

You know, my friends and family keep telling me to be more careful towards other people, especially in the future when I start working. I know the reason and I totally understand their warnings. But, isn't it tiring to always be suspicious? Always have to think twice before saying something, always have to figure out what are the other people's plot, scheme. Why do we have to keep thinking in a complicated way? You can totally say that I am being super naive, but so what?  I am very happy like that, not putting any barriers.

Look at life in a positive way, always have hope and faith.
